The Only Rule I follow
“Write even if you don’t feel like it.”
Every day, I plop down at my desk, facing that intimidating blank screen. The cursor blinks, like it’s teasing me. I sigh. The last thing I want to do is write. Words seem out of reach, and my creativity feels zapped. All I crave is to curl up in bed and binge on movies. But as I’m about to give in, a quiet voice in my head nudges me:
“Write, even when you’re not feeling it.”
It’s a mental note I hold onto. No matter how drained or unmotivated I feel, I let the words spill. I let my thoughts wander and jot down whatever comes to mind. The day’s ups and downs — joys, regrets, jitters, and blues. It’s my way of decompressing and reflecting.
Every night, before slipping into dreams, I skim through what I’ve penned. Among the scribbles, I always find a gem — a line that sparks an idea for an article. And as the night deepens, I’m reminded: I can always write. The only thing stopping me is, well, me.
